Our Story & Mission
CM Space is a changemaking space. We work with businesses, local governments and communities to create a regenerative world.
What does that mean?
It is a world where our human systems co-evolve with the living world, rather than just doing less bad stuff to the environment.
A world where the choices we make in business, governance and daily life are choices that restore, renew and regenerate eco-systems and communities.
Sounds too idealistic, right?
But it is the way all of life evolved on earth for billions of years.
Life evolved to create more life. Billions of plant, animal, insect, microbial, bacterial and all more-than-human species co-evolved to bring greater abundance, diversity, complexity, and vitality on earth. We are also one of these species. It would be crazy to think that human beings were a fatal flaw, because everything else on earth seems to have a unique contribution to make that strengthens the whole system.
CM Space was born out of founder, Ciara Moynihan’s, unwavering commitment to and belief that healthy, thriving ecosystems and communities can and should be the norm.
At CM Space we support organisations, communities, and local and national governments to make the changes that matter. Everyone has a vital role to play. All of our diverse skills, gifts and experiences are needed to create a resilient future.
Our role is to facilitate the co-creation of the invisible infratructure – organisational culture, systems design, governance frameworks, strategic plans, and participatory engagement processes; that businesses, local and national governments need in order to create a regenerative world.
Our mission is simple: to make a regenerative world the sexiest, most enlivening and REALISTIC one imaginable.

We support local governments, communities and private developers to regenerate ecosystems and community life.

We design and facilitate multi-stakeholder engagement processes using participatory approaches including creative and restorative practice.
What´s the big deal with regeneration?
Living systems thinking
Working regeneratively as a business, means asking yourself honestly how the purpose and strategic direction of your organisation contributes to regenerating life on earth. The frameworks and tools that CM Space uses help businesses tap into their regenerative potential to change the systems they are part of, create new business models, and effectively manage the changes they choose to make.
Community & Place
Communities and their places are reflections of each other. It is through community voices and socio-cultural patterns over time, as well as geography, history, climate, and ecology that we begin to see the essence of a place. By designing developments (e.g. infrastructure projects, ecological restoration projects etc.) from this space of relationship and listening, we can ensure that ¨solutions¨ are dynamic and co-evolve over-time to contribute to the long-term health of that community and place.
In an age of globalisation, regenerative development offers a practice of localisation which is not based on a fixed identity or ideology associated with a place, but rather rooted in the relationship of presence between what was, is and could be.
What´s different about CM Space?
We facilitate an organisation’s, communities or places’ development, not only through analysis and optimisation, but through relationship, culture and place. It is the alignment of these three things that ensures an organisation can create positive environmental and social outcomes; and lead the way forward in the polycrisis we are in.
We understand why people have more trust today in businesses than they do in institutions or government. We don´t think this is a good thing. However, it means that if we create widespread change in the way businesses operate by shifting business models from extraction to regeneration, operating within planetary boundaries, as well as advocating and lobbying for social justice; we will see society transform more quickly than if we wait to be saved from a world of our own making.
