OUR SERVICES

Place Based Strategy

At Changemaking Space, we use regenerative approaches to align people and place for the long-term benefit of all. We work with iwi and hapū, local communities, local government and private developers to create place-based strategies for development that ensure equitable outcomes for future generations.

Our work and experience is at the intersection of natural, social, cultural and economic regeneration. We listen keenly to the patterns that can be observed in places over time and design strategies through dialogue, creative practice, systems thinking and regenerative design. Our approach is grounded in decolonial and restorative practice.

What we offer:

If you are working on developing an ambitious strategy for your community, region or place and want it to become aligned effort and action, please reach out to hello@changemakingspace.com to see how we can help.

Our Approach

What´s the big deal with regeneration?

Regeneration matters because there is no life on a dead planet.

What this means for businesses?
Working regeneratively as a business, means asking yourself honestly how the purpose and strategic direction of your organisation contributes to regenerating life on earth. The frameworks and tools that CM Space uses help businesses tap into their regenerative potential to change the systems they are part of, create new business models, and effectively manage the changes they choose to make.

What this means for places?
Communities and their places are reflections of each other. It is through community voices and socio-cultural patterns over time, as well as geography, history, climate, and ecology that we begin to see the essence of a place. By designing developments (e.g. infrastructure projects, ecological restoration projects etc.) from this space of relationship and listening, we can ensure that ¨solutions¨ are dynamic and co-evolve over-time to contribute to the long-term health of that community and place.

“In an age of hyper-globalisation, regenerative development offers a practice of localisation which is not based on a fixed identity or ideology associated with a place, but rather rooted in cultivating relational presence between what was, is and could be with the people of that place.”
