The main aim of this project is to re-orient the local communities perspective of the bog as a place that has huge ecological value and directly contributes to positive health, wellbeing and social outcomes for the people of Ballylanders. By bringing the board of Ballyhoura Heritage and Environment together with the local community, we have been working on intergenerational knowledge sharing, storytelling, and understanding the ecosystem of the bog through movement and dancing together.
We know that by reconnecting people with the ecosystems they are embedded in and learning about the environment in an embodied, creative way, our interconnection with and responsibility to the living world becomes unignorable and is translated into meaningful climate action.
To see what has what a session on the bog looks like, check out this video made by UL School of Journalism student, Cillian Callaghan:
¨Imagine yourself as the bog, what would the bog like to share with us?¨
¨Imagine the bog is listening to you and understands your language, what would you like to share about your relationship to the bog?¨
